Solway Books is located in the harbour town of Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway. It is an independent book shop offering both new and second hand books with its floor space divided equally between the two. It also has a selection of Naxos CDs, greetings cards, postcards, gifts and stationery.
The shop has a broad selection of local history titles and Scottish titles including Tales of the Kirkcudbright Artists and The Kirkcudbright Companion both by Haig Gordon, Kirkcudbright Shipping by David Collin, The Dumfries and Galloway Slave Trade by Francis Wilkins along with titles published by the Auchencairn History Society and books published by our own sister company GC Books. The shop also holds local maps and walking guides including cycle routes to the Southern Upland Way and Galloway Hills. We offer a broad selection of modern paperback fiction including local authors such as Aline Templeton, Mark Frankland, Catriona MacPherson and Donna Brewster.
Through our schools supply service, we offer special discounts for schools and educational establishments supplying textbooks, exam papers, revision guides and study guides. In addition, we can source end of year prizes and gifts at competitive prices. As members of the Bookseller Association we can also offer National Book Tokens which can be used throughout the UK and make excellent rewards for achievers.
We are happy to source multiple copies of titles for Reading Groups and Book Clubs. We will find new or second hand copies, depending upon your requirements, at competitive prices and post them to a group coordinator, thus reducing the postage cost for the individual group members. We can take the hassle out of running a reading group.
